Kristi first encountered self-practice of yoga in 1979 while working in an Alaskan fishing village following Richard Hillman's 28 Day Yoga plan. She later taught fitness, creating programs of exercise as adjunct therapy in drug and alcohol treatment facilities for teenagers and adults as well as for developmentally disabled children. Her training as a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement training came out of an interest in derailing habitual movement and behaviors.
Her background in African, Brazilian, Haitian, Cuban, Latin, Hawaiian, and Balinese dance became the foundation of Worldbeat Dance - a movement class joining the music, dance and attitudes of those cultures as well as an interest in related rituals. She received a degree in Psychophysical Education from Antioch University in 1989.
A capoeira injury led her to the Pilates method of physical rehabilitaion. During her two years as staff trainer and assistant fitness director at Rancho La Puerta Spa in Mexico, she was able to study with nationally-reknowned Pilates and yoga teachers.
Kristi leads retreats in the northwest, eastcoast, Mexico and Italy. A former member of Aftro-Brazilian, Hawaiian, and Post-Moderna dance companies, she most recently performed with Kate Mitchell and Dancers at ODC in 2004.
