Meghan was introduced to yoga by her mother Teri in 1999. As an active teenager seeking deeper levels of meaning, yoga was the perfrect way for her to ground in her body and explore her own creative life force. A lifelong dancer, Meghan brings an in-depth understanding of the body, both intuitively and intellectually. During the first few years of her yoga practice, Meghan primarily practiced and trained in the Ashtanga and Iyengar styles. She began to teach in 2001, while pursuing her B.S. in Exercise Science at UC Davis.
In 2002, Meghan's yoga both blossomed and rooted when she met her teacher, Shiva Rea. Shiva's path of living yoga, rather than doing yoga, her natural Bhakti quality she brought to the practice, and the way she softened the intensity of the practice with pulsation and deep devotion to the Shakti have continued to inspire and influence Meghan's practice, teaching, and life. Since then, Meghan has completed several teacher's immersions and retreats with Shiva, including a yoga and ayurveda study in Kerala , India . She recently completed her 500 hour RYT with Shiva as a Prana Flow teacher.
Meghan's style of teaching is creative, dynamic, invigorating, empowering, and infused with music, breath, and laughter. Her approach to the body as sacred space prevents injuries and allows students to dive deeply into themselves. Meghan sees the asanas as expressions of Prana that invoke specific qualities and energies. From this view, as well as from her studies and practice in Ayurveda, Meghan's classes are challenging yet replenishing, deep yet light-hearted, and innovative while also honoring the traditional roots of yoga.
Other practices and passions that teach Meghan about embodiment and living yoga include many forms of dancing, swimming, surfing, music, cooking, and kayaking. She offers group classes, private sessions and teacher trainings in Davis and the SF Bay Area, and leads yoga retreats throughout California and Mexico.
