Todd Semo has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since 1996. He began teaching in 2000. Todd was certified by The Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States(IYNAUS) in 2005. The Iyengar certification process is the most rigorous one in existence today. This process involves a demonstrated practice of asanas(poses), a class taught to students in front of a panel of three higher level teachers, and a written exam. Assessment takes place over the course of three days. Preparations can take years for each level. Todd is currently certified at the Intermediate Junior I level.
Todd comes to the practice by way of childhood sports and the martial arts. Each successive activity has contributed to the refinement of the physical into the spiritual. While Todd’s classes are focused on the physical aspects of the postures along with ideas on practice and philosophy, his is an example of the life change that shines through this practice.
Todd believes that he has a duty to pass on the high quality of instruction and attention to detail that he has received from his teacher, Manouso Manos. He continues to study and apprentice with Manouso weekly, both attending and assisting classes. Todd has studied with The Iyengars(B.K.S., Geeta, and Prashant)in both the U.S. and India six times. He continues his studies in Pune, India, with the Iyengar family as often as he is permitted(every year and a half).
